Emission Quantification for Sustainable Heavy-Duty Transportation

چکیده
Vehicles equipped with internal combustion engines (ICE) are major contributors to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and dependence on fossil fuels. Alternatives such as electric, hydrogen fuel cell biofuel-based propulsions being considered a replacement for the well-established ICE vehicles reduce GHG provide sustainable transportation. This paper will compare various heavy-duty vehicle (HDV) propulsion combinations using well-to-wheel (WTW) analysis, separated into two parts: Well-to-Tank (WTT) Tank-to-Wheel (TTW). The WTW analysis of HDV is based Euro VI test engine coupled an dynamometer. energy consumption measured, not estimated, providing closer real-life comparison. detailed comparison alternative analysis. Final results suggest, even EU’s fairly carrier-dependent mix, usage electric systems can reach up 56% emission cut compared conventional ICE.

Demand Forecasting for Heavy-Duty Diesel Engines Considering Emission Regulations
Makers of heavy-duty diesel engines (HDDEs) need to reduce their inventory of old-generation products in preparation for the demand for next-generation products that satisfy new emission regulations. In this paper, a new demand forecasting model is proposed to reflect special conditions raised by the technological generational shift owing to new emission regulation enforcement. In addition, sen...

The plastic softener called DEHP, di-ethylhexyl phthalate, suddenly created life-saving flexibility for patients who could be treated safely in hospitals, at home, at work, at a trauma site, and in an ambulance. Elegant tiny catheters now could be crafted for anatomies of premature infants to provide them the breath, food, and waste removal that enabled them to survive. Trauma patients now coul...

This paper applies a geospatial network optimization model to explore environmental, economic, and time-of-delivery tradeoffs associated with the application of marine vessels as substitutes for heavy-duty trucks operating in the Great Lakes region. The geospatial model integrates U.S. and Canadian highway, rail, and waterway networks to create an intermodal network and characterizes this netwo...

work of Abraham and Hunt (1, 2). PECAS combines concepts from traditional Walrasian (general equilibrium) economics with random utility theory. Random utility theory permits the representation of heterogeneous goods and actors with heterogeneous tastes in which the prices of goods vary by zone. The implementation of discrete choice theory by the use of logit equations also permits partial utili...

Whereas previous emission limit values could be met by primary engine control measures, the limits for PM and NOx from heavy duty engines in 2008/09 (Euro V) and diesel passenger cars in 2014/15 (Euro 6) represent a challenge for the developers of diesel engines and vehicles. Due to the thermodynamics of the Diesel combustion process, it is difficult to optimise the combustion process for both ...
